Search — Finding Cards Across Your Stacks

NoteDex has two levels of search: a global search from the Home page that finds cards across your entire workspace, and an in-stack search within a specific stack.

Global Search (from the Home Page)

Global search finds matching cards across all stacks in your current workspace.

How to Search

  1. Click the Search box in the top-right area of the Home page.
  2. Type your search term.
  3. Press Enter to run the search.
  4. Results appear as card thumbnails — each showing a preview of the matching content.
  5. Click any result to open that card directly.

Clearing Search

Click the button that appears inside the search box to clear the search and return to the normal Home page view.

What Search Finds

  • Card titles
  • Card body content (front and back)
  • Results come from all stacks in the current workspace

> Tip: Switch workspaces first if you want to search within a different area of your content.

In-Stack Search

When you're inside a stack (Cards View), the filter bar includes a Search box that searches only within that stack.

  1. Open a stack from the Home page.
  2. Click the Search box in the filter bar (to the right of the tag and sort controls).
  3. Type your term — the card grid filters in real time as you type.
  4. Clear the field to show all cards again.

Combining Search with Other Filters

In-stack search works alongside the other filter bar controls:

  • Use Select Tag(s) to narrow to a tag first, then search within those results.
  • Use the ★ Favorites filter plus search to find a specific favourited card.
  • Use Select Group in the left panel to search within a specific group.

Search Tips

  • Search is not case-sensitive — "project" and "Project" return the same results.
  • Search looks inside card content, not just titles — so searching for a word you remember writing will find it even if the card has a different title.
  • If you can't find something, check you're in the right workspace — search only covers the currently selected workspace.
