Settings — Customising NoteDex

The Settings page lets you control how NoteDex looks and behaves — from default fonts and card colours to touch mode, sync behaviour, and data export.

To open Settings: click the gear icon (⚙) at the bottom of the left sidebar.

Card Defaults

These settings apply to every new card you create.


Setting What it controls
Default Title Font Size Font size of the card title (above red line area)
Default Body Font Size Font size of the card body text
Quick Note Font Size Font size in the Quick Note sidebar panel
Default New Card Color Background color for new cards
Default Card Text Color Text color for new cards
Default Font Font family (e.g., Segoe UI)
Text Alignment Default alignment for card front
Text Alignment – Back Default alignment for card back
Title Indent Toggle indentation for the title area
Body Indent Toggle indentation for the body text
Show Red Line Show/hide the red horizontal title separator
Default New Card Background Background style/pattern for new card fronts
Default Back Card Background Background style/pattern for new card backs

Canvas Defaults


Setting What it controls
Canvas Card Color Default color of canvas text blocks
Canvas Ink Pen 1 Color Default pen color for drawing on canvas
Canvas Card Outline Color Border color of canvas text blocks
New canvas card (add via mouse) Default size when adding a block with a mouse
New canvas card (add via pen) Default size when adding a block with a stylus
Canvas Font Size Default font size inside canvas text blocks

Display

Card/Stack Name Color Color of title shown on thumbnails
White Menu Color Use white menus instead of dark
Stack Size Default stack thumbnail size (Home page)
Card Size Default card thumbnail size (Cards View)
Default View Standard View or Organizer View by default
Show card number (rank) Show a number badge on each card
Show stack number Show a number badge on each stack
Zoom Card on Hover Slightly enlarge card thumbnails on hover

Touch & Mobile


Setting What it controls
Tablet/Mobile mode Touch scroll behavior vs mouse/trackpad scroll
Mobile start mode Where the app opens on mobile
Auto-Detect Pen Automatically switch to pen mode when a stylus is detected

> Tablet/Mobile mode is the most commonly adjusted setting. If you're using a touchscreen device and you seem to be dragging cards rather than scrolling, toggle this setting to match your input method and switch to Tablet (touch) mode.  Turn this off if using mouse on desktop then you can use the mouse to drag cards on the screen.


Behavior


Setting What it controls
Paste as HTML Paste with formatting (ON) or plain text (OFF)
On New Card, place cursor automatically Start typing immediately on new card
Side/Top Panel Expanded Open productivity sidebar by default

Sync

Setting What it controls
Auto Save Automatically save cards as you type
Sync Each Time App Opens Pull latest cloud data on app launch
Sync Stack on Open Sync a stack’s cards each time you open it

> If your data seems out of date across devices, use the Re-Sync NoteDex data button (see below) to force a full sync.


Quick Note Settings

Default Card Color Background color for Quick Note cards

Study Mode — Customize Study Words

You can rename the four study result labels to match your own terminology or language:

Simply type a new word in each field to replace the default.


Recent Cards

Recent Cards: sets how many cards appear in the Recent Cards section of the productivity sidebar. Default is 10.


Data & Export

Action What it does
Update Stack Rank Order Recalculates and saves stack ordering
Re-Sync NoteDex data Forces a full cloud sync
Download CSV Export Downloads all card text as CSV (workspace, stack, tags, etc.)

> Your data is automatically backed up by NoteDex in the cloud. The CSV export is an optional extra for your own records.
